SHIELDS. GHOSTING.
In collaboration with ANNA NAZO.
“Shields. Ghosting” is a site specific performance for camera that reflects on the gentrification process around the Battersea Power Station, London (UK). It attempts to grasp the trace of the phenomenon of the ghosting, a process of bounding of the living-dying-dead industrial coal-fired past of the area with the never and [at the same time] yet to come unknown and aimed to be [radically] different future synthetic-polished liveness. It refers to the concept of hauntology (Derrida: 1993), a state of transitory, historical, ontological disconnection that is a certain type of breaking, and the notion of the extended bleeding instant, a deferred present-absent.
The work blends a spoken word by Anna Nazo that she co-wrote with the AI trained to simulate her writing patterns, visual-audio component that was computer generated live from Anna’s brainwaves data (EEG) on site during the performance that was documented / seen through the lens of uncanny [augmented] reality wearable technology and garments designed by Deep Maze.
